Donald R. Williams Obituary

Donald R. Williams, 95, of Covington went home to be with the Lord on March 28, 2017. He was born on July 1, 1921 in Cincinnati, Ohio.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Catherine Beerman Pennington and Ernest Williams, and a brother, Glen Hubner. He is also preceded in death by Beatrice M Knoebel Williams,   the mother of his children and a daughter, Brenda Kay.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary Helen Nave Williams, his children, Donald Robert (Terry) of Ludlow Falls, Linda (Larry) Long of Troy, Dean (Cherryl) of Troy, and Daniel  (Vinnie) of Pleasant Hill, step children Randy (Mary Helen) Nave of Anapolis, IL, Sheila Kamplain of Robinson, IL, 20 grandchildren,  10 step-grandchildren,  45 great-grandchildren, 20 step great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and 6 step great great grandchildren.

Donald served in WWII in the 757th Tanker Battalion under General  Patton in South Africa and Italy.  He drove the commander’s jeep and he also drove a half-track.   After the war he was employed at Hobart Bros. in Troy and retired after 35 years.

He loved Sugar Grove, where he spent most of his life. He served as a Deacon, Youth Leader, Bus Mechanic, Song Leader, and Sunday School teacher at Troy Baptist Temple for many years.  He had a love for the deaf and became a deaf interpreter. He helped many churches start deaf ministries. He and his wife are currently members of LifeWay Baptist Church in Tipp City.  Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, April 1, at the Troy Baptist Temple, 691 E. Staunton Rd., Troy, with interment following at Highland Cemetery, Covington. An interpreter for the deaf will be provided. The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM Friday at Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, 1 S. Main Street, Pleasant Hill. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bill Rice Ranch, 627 Bill Rice Ranch Rd, Murfreesboro, TN 37128.
