Dean Schauer

Age 75, of Pleasant Hill, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016, at his home. He was born April 2, 1940, in Troy, Ohio, to his parents Virgil & Alice (Adams) Schauer. Dean graduated from Newton High School class of 1958. On October 21, 1967, he was married to Marilyn Dee Rice in Pleasant Hill by Dean’s grandfather, Rev. Samuel Adams. Dean retired from the US Postal service where he delivered mail in both Pleasant Hill and Covington for over 30 years. He was a US Army veteran and was an active member of many veterans organizations in Miami County including the V.F.W. Post 6557 (Mountain Top), American Legion Post #487, West Milton, and the Amvets Post 66, Covington. He was also a member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge #14 F.&A.M, the Covington Eagles #3998, and the Troy Fish and Game. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 34 years Marilyn Dee Schauer and his parents. Dean will be missed and remembered by his children and their spouses Melany & Darryl Burk  of Englewood, Darren & Tonia Schauer of Ludlow Falls; grandchildren Kyle Demido, McKenna Demido, Sydney Schauer, Rylee Schauer, Britton Schauer, Ty Schauer, Vidol Lee-Schauer; brother Dennis Schauer of Sardinia; sisters and brothers-in-law Cordy & Cecil Jackson of Pleasant Hill, Lauren & Jim Marcum of Pleasant Hill. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, January 14, at Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, 1 S. Main Street, Pleasant Hill, with interment following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Hill Rescue Squad or Hospice of Miami County.
