William Bashore Obituary


Age 85, passed away Monday, July 4, 2011. He was born April 19, 1926, in Pleasant Hill, Ohio, to his parents Gaylord & Maybell (Cecil) Bashore. Bill graduated from Newton High School Class of 1944. Soon after, he enlisted in the US Navy serving from 1944-1946. He was involved in the Battle of Iwo Jima where he saw the flag being raised. He later retired from Inland as a licensed stationary engineer . Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church of Laura, Troy Lodge #73 F & A.M, and Scottish Rite. He also held his private pilot?s license. Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife Phyllis in 2003. He is survived by his children and their spouses Barry & Pamela Bashore of Pleasant Hill, Terri & Rick Wackler of Pleasant Hill, Tom & Joanne Bashore of Tipp City; grandchildren Brent Wackler, Travis & Chrissy Bashore, Amanda & Jeff Brandt, Jaclyn Bashore. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, July 8, at Jackson-Sarver Family Funeral , 1 S. Main St, Pleasant Hill. Pastor Pam Hitchcock will officiate with interment following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home with Masonic services being held at 7:45 PM.
