Willard "Pete" Dale Smith

Age 92, formerly of Pleasant Hill, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Stillwater Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, Covington. He was born June 29, 1932, in Troy, Ohio, to his parents Everett & Velva (Waugh) Smith. He graduated from Loss Creek High School and served his country in the US Air Force as an airplane mechanic during the Korean War. He married Patricia B. Southerland on July 24, 1954, and together they shared a life for over 67 years. Pete worked at Dinner Bell Foods for over 30 years, and later worked as a lawnmower repairman at Deeter’s M&J and a janitor at the Troy First United Church of Christ.

Pete was preceded in death by his wife Patricia; his parents; siblings Arbutus Reser, John Smith, Ivan Smith, Mildred Beckstead, Mary Poling, Everett “Gene” Smith.

He will be missed and remembered by his children and their spouses Regina & Philip Ashmore, Robert & Teresa Smith; grandchildren David (Billie), Steve (Kitsey), Brenda (Michael), Shanna (Ron), Wesley (Beth), Jeremy (Kerri), Dustin (Beth), Manda (Chris), Becca (Shawn), 27 great grandchildren, 21 great great grandchildren; sister-in-law Shirley Smith; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends Judy Barga, Bill Smith, Barb Fiant.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, December 12, at Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, 1 S. Main Street, Pleasant Hill, with interment following at Casstown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00-1:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
