Virgil L. Agne

Age 84, of Troy, passed away Monday, February 26, 2018, at Story Point Senior Living. He was born March 11, 1933, in Troy, to his parents William & Isadora (Ross) Agne. He was the youngest of five children Luellen Sentman, Velma Garman, Donna Brown, and Cleola Miller all of who preceded him in death.

He graduated from Newton High School class of 1951. On May 22, 1952, he married his beloved wife, Virginia Flory, and together they shared a life for 42 year until her passing in 1995. Virgil had a very distinguished career that he truly loved. He spent four years in the United States Navy as a SeaBee. After returning from duty in the Philippines, where he learned to operate heavy equipment, he spent the next 42 years working for Miller Brothers as a bulldozer operator. He always said the earth was his canvas and his bulldozer was the paintbrush. In addition to his demanding career, he also enjoyed traveling, camping, woodworking, gardening, reading, sitting around his koi pond, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a lifelong member of the First United Church of Christ in Troy, where he was baptized as an infant.

He was a member of the VFW Post 6557 (Mountain Top) and the American Legion Post 586 Tipp City.

He will be missed and remembered by his children Tony L. Agne and Vicki S. Barnes; grandchildren Junell & Hunter Christian, Jodi & Richard Ruffini, Brandon & Jennifer Barnes, Stacey & Tim Penkal, Todd & Mary Agne; great grandchildren Reagan, Ainsley, Sierra, Ike, Reed, Cruz, Brody, Jake, Maddox, Cobi.

A celebration of life will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, March 17, at the First United Church of Christ, 120 South Market Street, Troy. A private graveside service will held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Church of Christ.
