Susan Kay (Hill) Davis, 73 of Pleasant Hill, Ohio passed into eternity on Friday, July 23, 2021 at Grandview Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. She was born on October 8, 1947 to Thomas and Hazel (Young) Hill in Piqua, Ohio. She graduated from Piqua Central High School in 1965 and then completed her studies at Dayton School of Cosmetology in 1967. Susan married her husband, John, on February 10, 1968. After working as a beautician for a few years, she became a stay at home mom, dedicating all of her time to her three children. For a short time in the mid 1980s she delivered the Troy Daily News. In 1988 she returned to the workforce working full time at Spring Hill Nurseries in Tipp City. In 1990 she began working at Arnold’s Canteen in Troy, Ohio and worked there for approximately 10 years. Throughout her life she enjoyed working with children, serving as a volunteer in the children’s department at Pleasant View Missionary Church in Darke County, First Brethren Church in Pleasant Hill, and most recently Troy Church of the Nazarene. Besides helping on Sunday mornings, she also helped with Vacation Bible School and special events. In the late 90s and early 2000s, she was a tutor through the H.O.S.T.S. reading program at Newton Schools. Once she was an empty nester, she picked up gardening as a hobby. Throughout her life she was an “avid shopper,” always determined to find the right gift for someone, even if it was not their birthday or Christmas. Most recently she enjoyed watching her granddaughter play sports and rarely missed her games or other activities. Susan was in constant contact with her sons out of state and her two grandsons in North Carolina. Susan is survived by her husband of 53 years, John Oliver Davis, 75 of Pleasant Hill, Ohio, her sons, John Anthony (Lisa) of Bel Air, MD, and Daniel Christopher of Raleigh, NC, and her daughter, Sarah Elizabeth (Kerry) of Covington, OH, grandchildren, Marissa (Troy) Cron, Delaney Murphy, and Solomon and Soren Davis and their mother, India Davis. She is also survived by her brother, Tom (Brenda) Hill of Piqua, OH, her sister, Shirley Robinson of Saginaw, Texas, many special sister and brother-in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, childhood friend, Susan Hodges of Piqua, and many other friends and family. Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Hazel (Young) Hill, stepmother, Mary Ruth (Shawler) Hill, her sisters, Jean (Hill) Myers and Billie Anne (Hill) Wills, her brothers-in-law, Vernie Myers, Lewis Wills, and David Robinson, her nephew, Steve Hill, niece, Beth Bayman, her great-niece, Ashley Robinson, her father and mother-in-law, Gerald (Jar) and Mary (Gibson) Davis, her nephews, Ed Kauffman and Clarke Davis, and her granddaughter, Molly Eilizabeth Murphy. Susan loved the Lord and lived her life giving as much love as possible to everyone that she met. She was one of a kind and will be missed dearly, but is now at peace in Heaven with her loved ones, keeping watch over a long list of people that were close to her heart.
