Stanley Shellabarger Obituary

Stanley Dean Shellabarger, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, in Bradford, at the age of 85. He was born on January 11, 1940, in Laura, Ohio, to his parents Erman A. & Irene (Garber) Shellabarger. Stanley was a man whose life was defined by his loving nature and faith-filled spirit.
A proud graduate of Newton High School's class of 1958, Stanley dedicated his life to the land, working as a lifetime area farmer. His passion for the earth was evident in the bountiful vegetable gardens he cultivated and the popcorn he grew with care. For three decades, Stanley and his beloved wife, Evelyn, were a familiar and welcome presence at the Troy Farmers Market, where they sold their produce to the community.

On January 10, 1965, Stanley married Evelyn Lavy, and together they nurtured a family and a partnership that flourished for over 59 years. Their shared love for the outdoors was reflected in Stanley's enjoyment of fishing and hunting coyotes. Above all, he loved spending time with his five granddaughters, imparting to them the values of hard work and the importance of family.

Stanley's legacy is one of enduring love and steadfast faith. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will continue to inspire and guide those he leaves behind.
Stanley was preceded in death by his loving wife Evelyn Shellabarger; sisters Gladys Eley and Carolyn Flory; sister-in-law Mary Shellabarger; brother-in-law Ferdie Murphy.
He will be missed and remembered by his sons and daughters-in-law Michael & Barb Shellabarger, Zane & Jennifer Shellabarger; granddaughters Emily, Erika, Stella (Cavin), Lillie, and Eva; brother Ronald Shellabarger; sister and Marilyn Shellabarger; brothers-in-law and sisters in-law Bob & Sharon Lavy, Everett & Reta Lavy; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Edie Murphy, Eileen & John Henderson.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of Miami County and all the caregivers, especially Julie, Carolyn, Brianna, and Darlene, for the care they showed to Stanley during their time with him.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 21, at the Shiloh New Conference Meeting House, 8340 Delisle-Fourman Road, Arcanum, with interment following at Newcomer Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 PM Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County.
