Age 92, of Troy, passed away Friday, May 20, 2011, in Piqua, Ohio. Born July 13, 1918, in Potsdam, Ohio to Melvin and Cora (Peffley) Wright she was preceded in death by her devoted husband Benjamin J. Carey in 2006, sisters Phoebe Ditmer, Suzanna Wissinger and Ruby Peck. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her daughter Sue Ann Carey of St Petersburg, FL, son and daughter -in-law Paul Edwin & Mary Elizabeth Carey of Contoocook, NH, sister Doris Conway of Ft Lauderdale, FL, step granddaughter Sarah Healy (Justin) and step great-grandchildren Tyler, Burke, and Patrick. Ruth graduated from Milton-Union High School in 1936, married Benjamin and together they worked on the family farm on Forest Hill Road in Troy, Ohio. She was an active member of the First Brethren Church of Pleasant Hill where she served as a Deaconess and was also a long time volunteer at Stouter Memorial Hospital in Troy, Ohio. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 25, at First Brethren Church, 210 Church St, Pleasant Hill. Pastor Lynn Mercer will officiate with interment following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Tuesday, May 24, at Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, 1 S. Main St, Pleasant Hill. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to First Brethren Church, Pleasant Hill.
