Robert Frasier Clingen, Age 80

Bob Clingen (of the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville) went to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning, May 17, 2022.  He was a good husband to his wife, Sheryl of 56 years and father to daughters, Liz & Catherine. He was born on October 20, 1941 to Rev. Herbert & Ida Ruth Clementine (Frasier) Clingen in the Philippines where his parents were missionaries.  He was captured with his family and became a Prisoner of War by the Japanese for 25 months in the Los Banos Internment Camp during WWII.  They were rescued by General Douglas McArthur and his troops when Bob (3 years old) saw the paratroopers coming from the sky, he told his Dad he thought those were Angels!

He graduated from George Washington High School in Los Angeles, California in 1960.  He enlisted in the Navy during the Vietnam War and served his country on ship.  Bob was a pressman and manager at prints shops in California, Tennessee and Ohio.

He was a member of the Bible Fellowship Church in Greenville, Ohio.  He was also proud to have been a member of the Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, CA where Rev. John McArthur is Senior Pastor and 5th cousin to General McArthur.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Herbert & Ruth Clingen; brother, Bill Clingen; and brother-in-law, David Bridgen; in-laws, Gerald (Jar) & Mary Davis, sister-in-law, Susan (Hill) Davis.  He will be remembered and missed by his wife, Sheryl Ann (Davis) Clingen and his two daughters, Elizabeth (Tony) DiPinto and Catherine Clingen and Mike Le; Granddaughters Adriana (Jake) Martin and Gabriella DiPinto;  Great-Granddaugher, Layla Martin; his sister, Betty Ruth Bridgen and her two sons, Matthew & Mark Bridgen; in-laws John Davis, Rosemary Saunders, Brenda (Bruce) Easton, Judy (Paul) Benson, Debra Davis, Anita Smith, William (Bill) Davis, Margaret (Tim) Brown; numerous nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at Bible Fellowship Church in Greenville on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 11 am.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: EverHeart Hospice, Bible Fellowship Church or The Arc of Ohio/Miami County. Memories can be shared online at www.jackson-sarver.com
