Mary Ellen Stanforth
Age 77, of Pleasant Hill, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at Upper Valley Medical Center. She was born May 1, 1936, Highland County, Ohio, to her parents Edwin Dale & Nellie Marie (Igo) Michael. She graduated from Belfast High School Class of 1954. On May 7, 1955, she married Charles L. Stanforth in Woodsfield, Ohio. From 1954-1957, she worked for Wright Patterson as a telephone operator; from 1969-1972, she worked at the Pleasant Hill Post Office as a clerk; from 1972-1986, she worked at ENPO-Cornell, Piqua, as a precision grinder until her retirement in 1986. In 1987, she worked as the assistant to the Clerk Treasurer for the Village of Pleasant Hill until 1992-2003, when she was elected Clerk Treasurer of Pleasant Hill. She was a member and Squad Commander for the Pleasant Hill/ Newton Twp. Life Squad and was a member of the Lady's Fire Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Charles L. Stanforth; her parents; siblings Dale Michael, Barb Brannen, Bill Michael. She will be missed and remembered by her son and daughter-in-law Wayne & Diane Stanforth of Shertz, TX; daughter and son-in-law Mary Jo & Tom Prickett of Pleasant Hill; grandchildren Christopher & Mali Stanforth of TX, Nathan & Jackie Prickett of Pleasant Hill, Kellen & Roze Stanforth of TX, Andrew Prickett of Pleasant Hill, Amy & Lyle Oesterling of Englewood, Matthew Prickett of Pleasant Hill; great grandchildren Jacob Stanforth, Brenden Stanforth, Luke Prickett, Josh Atkins, Isabelle Prickett, Kaeden Stanforth; brother Bob Michael. Funeral services will be held 6:00 PM Monday, January 13, at Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, 1 S. Main Street, Pleasant Hill, with Monty Stratton officiating. Interment at Sugartree Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive from 4-6 PM Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
