COPPOCK, Mabel L. Age 90, formerly of Ludlow Falls, more recently of Troy, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. Mabel was born on August 16, 1920, in West Milton to Walter and Ruth (Schwartz) Sass. Both preceeded her in death. She attended Vandalia-Butler Schools for 10 years; then attended Newton School where she graduated with the class of 1938. She worked in Dayton after graduation and later married Lloyd Coppock on September 24, 1940. Mabel was employed by Federal Crop Insurance of Troy for 17 years. She was a former 4-H member, was active as a ten-year 4-H advisor and a trustee on the Board of Directors which helped to develop the MiamiCounty4-H Camp, Inc. She also served on the Miami County Extension Advisory Council for Newton Township, was active in the Miami County Home Demonstration Club, and thoroughly enjoyed working on the family farm. Mabel was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ and in later years, enjoyed visits from the pastor on Sundays. During her life, Mabel enjoyed traveling with her husband Lloyd and was able to visit all 50 states. After retirement, she and Lloyd spent their winters in Bonita Springs, Fla. Mabel will be missed by her daughter, Nancy DeWeese of Troy, whom she stayed with for 3 ½ years; her sister Audrey (Sass) Pemberton of Pleasant Hill; daughter-in-law Karen Coppock of Greenville, grandchildren Rod DeWeese, Orlando, Fla., Brian DeWeese, Troutville, Va., Joyce Coppock, Troy, Brent (Kathy) Coppock, Lewisburg; six step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren Shane Coppock, Jordan Coppock, Ellie Coppock.; 12 step-great-grandchildren; and extended family and friends. Mabel was preceeded in death by her parents,her loving husband of 67 years, Lloyd, who passed away on November 11, 2007, a son Richard L. Coppock and a sister Ethel Sass. Services for Mabel will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 21, at Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, 1 S. Main Street, Pleasant Hill, with Pastor Craig Showalter officiating. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Hill. Family and friends may gather from 12:00-2:00 on Monday at the funeral home.
