CHANEY, Larry L.
Age 77, of Pleasant Hill, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Covington Care Center. He was born March 2, 1937, in Troy, Ohio, to his parents Charles & Minnie (Hansford) Chaney. Larry graduated from Newton High School. On January 9, 1959, he married Rebecca Stocker and together they shared a life for over 50 years. He served the Miami County as a police officer for the Village of Pleasant Hill and retired as a Deputy Sheriff for the Miami County Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of the Troy Fish and Game and enjoyed word search books, the Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State football and basketball. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his friends from the police, sheriff, and fire departments. The family would like to thank the Pleasant Hill Rescue Squad, Fidelity Health Care, UVMC Medical Staff, and the Covington Care Center. Larry was preceded in death by his loving wife Rebecca Chaney; brothers Charles, Donald, James, Jack, Bob, David, Gary Chaney; sisters Judy, Barb, Dorothy. He will be missed and remembered by his daughter Nena Terry of Pleasant Hill; son Kelly Chaney of Michigan; grandchildren Megan Hanf & fiancé Shawn Treon, Chelsea & Curtis Jones, Cody Terry, Lauren Chaney, Kyle Chaney; great-grandchildren Brayden Hanf, Myla Elliott, Leah Elliot, Gracie Jones, Reagan Jones, Chase Kellems, baby Treon; brothers Jerry and Bill Chaney; sisters Betty, Mary Ellen, Kay, Jean, numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, March 6, at Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, 1 S. Main Street, Pleasant Hill with interment following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Hill Life Squad.
