Joan Wackler

Age 97, of Pleasant Hill, passed away Friday, October 6, 2023, at Randall Residence of Tipp City. She was born January 5, 1926, in Darke County, to her parents Lester P. & Ruth (Neibert) Delk. Joan graduated from Newton High School class of 1944 and retired from Newton Schools in 1986 after 30 years of service as a teacher’s aide. On March 30, 1946, she married Ned B. Wackler in Richmond, Indiana, and together they shared a life for over 57 years. She was a resident of Pleasant Hill for over 76 years and was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ where she served on the missions committee. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Ned Wackler; sister Farrell Beam; brothers Jim Delk and Kenneth Delk. She will be missed and remembered by her sons and daughters-in-law John & Kathi Wackler of Pleasant Hill and Dan & Grace Wackler of Troy; grandchildren Kevin Wackler, Amanda & Troy Troutwine of Arcanum, Lisa & Mike Phillips of Piqua; great grandchildren Brennen Troutwine, Brycelin Troutwine, Bryce Phillips, Renner Phillips. Private family services will be held with interment following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
