Janice Louise Deeter

Age 89 of Troy, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at her home. She was born July 26, 1933, in Pleasant Hill, Ohio, to her parents Omer V. & Alice Bell (Thompson) Landis. Janice graduated from Newton High School class of 1951. Following graduation, she worked at Aero Products until her first child Scott was born. She worked as a homemaker where she raised her four children for the next 15 years. She later went to work for Western Ohio National Bank as a bank teller in Pleasant Hill, A receptionist at Dr. Faze, Dr. Kaz, Dr. Ginn’s Office, and worked at Hocker Tool & Die as a receptionist until her retirement in 1998. She was a member of the First Brethren Church in Pleasant Hill where she taught Sunday school, Bible school and enjoyed attending her Monday women’s Bible study. She loved to travel, ride horses, tea parties, water-skiing, boating, fishing and shopping with her sisters. But mostly, she loved to spend time with her family.

She will be missed and remembered by her loving husband Donald F. Deeter; children and their spouses Ronald Scott & Joy Hocker of South Vienna, Jane E. & Tim Pierce of Troy, Ann R. & David Hutchinson of Ludlow Falls, William “Bill” K. & Julie Hocker of Beavercreek; grandchildren J. Elizabeth Ray (Nathan), Sandra Oehlenschlager (Chad) Christopher Hocker (Brooke), Nicholas Harvey (Sarah); T.J. Pierce (Brittany); Kyle Hutchinson (Chelsea), Bradford Pierce,  Julia Pierce, Cody Hocker, Justin Hocker; 16 great grandchildren; step children Andrew & Marylou Deeter, Marie Deeter, Thomas Deeter, Daniel & Stephanie Deeter, Benjamin Deeter. She was preceded in death by her first husband Ronald K. Hocker; siblings Elizabeth Wise, Virginia Ann Landis, Ondalee Beasley, Roger Landis, Darlene Lummis; step son Nicholas Deeter. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, February 13, at First Brethren Church, 210 N. Church Street, Pleasant Hill, with interment following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-5:00 PM Sunday at Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, 1 S. Main Street, Pleasant Hill.
