SWARTZ, Helen Marie
Age 82, of Pleasant Hill, went to be with the Lord Friday, February 28, 2014, at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. She was born August 12, 1931, in Piqua, Ohio, to her parents Albert Laurel & Margaret Maria (Locker) Bodey. Helen graduated from Westville High School and on February 3, 1951, she married Donald Eugene Swartz in Pleasant Hill. Helen was a longtime member of the Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed quilting, baking, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and with the love of her life, Donald. Helen will be missed and remembered by her loving husband of 63 years Donald E. Swartz; children Susan Swartz of Logansport, IN, David Swartz of Pleasant Hill, Lisa Fike of Pearl City, IL, Paula (Jim) Landis of Pleasant Hill; grandchildren Michelle (Daniel) Moore, Nicholas Swartz, Heather Landis, Jakob Landis, HollyAnne Landis, Carol Fike, Bethany Fike, Tori (Jason) Weese; great-grandchildren Gavin, Donovan, Kerigan, Aubriea, Gabrielle, Keleigh; sister Dorothy Purk of Urbana; sister-in-law Shirley Bodey of Urbana; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Laurel Bodey, Louis (Deanie) Bodey, Harry (Kathryn) Bodey; sister Opal (Bill) Stuck; son-in-law J. Melvin Fike; brother-in-law Paul Purk. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 4, at Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren, 300 E. Monument Street, Pleasant Hill. Pastor Nick Beam will officiate with interment following at Miami Memorial Park, Covington. The family will receive friends from 11-1 PM Tuesday at the church.
