Biography

HILLIS, Frances Josephine "Frannie"
Age 89, passed away peaceful Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Springmeade Health Center. Mother was born on October 11, 1925, eight miles west of Zanesville, Ohio, in the hamlet of White Cottage, Ohio, to Warren Stanley and Gracie Dell (Moyer) McLean. She was a graduate of Lash High School in Zanesville where she played the violin in the school orchestra. After moving to Arcanum, Ohio, she became an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, pianist, and a choir member. She sang for many years with the Darke County Oratorio Society. After retiring in 1985 with 35 years of banking experience at Arcanum National Bank and Second National Bank, she became a volunteer at Wayne Hospital and the "Clothes Closet". She loved shopping with her best friend Betty Murphy and playing the piano with her great grandchildren. Mother really liked her sports! Especially the Cincinnati Reds. There was a time when she could name every Reds player, their position and their batting average. She loved going to the games with her beloved sister Marcie with their Reds ball caps on and their matching red and white outfits! Preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and brothers-in-law Norma and Ralph Greiner and Marcella and Hugh (Tod) Dysinger of Zanesville. She leaves behind granddaughters, Lisa and Dewey Williams, Lori and David Sawka of Troy, and Leslie Hall of St. Paris, nine great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren who lovingly called her "Grandma Great", a sister Lois and Eugene Folden of White Cottage, six nieces and nephews of Columbus and Zanesville who called her Aunt Ty, and me, her daughter, Alinda (Lynn) and my husband Tom Force of Troy with so many fond, some funny and many many happy memories! Our family would like to thank the caring and dedicated staff at Springmeade Health Center, Tipp City, and Hospice of Miami County. Private funeral services will be conducted by her nephew Dr. Eugene Folden of Columbus at Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
