STEPHENS, Eugene "Gene" Age 81, of Troy, passed away Friday, September 16, 2011. He was born January 2, 1930, in Overton Co, TN, to his parents Jeff & Flora Stephens. He was preceded in death by his parents; 6 sisters and 3 brothers. He leaves to survive, his loving wife of 58 years Doris Ann (Cox); sons Alan Stephens and Kerry Stephens (Karol); daughters Valerie Paoloemilio (Jim), Vickie Stephens, Anita Weaver, and Gloria Stephens; grandchildren Crystal Messaros (Jesse), Karyn Dietrich, Rachel Mae Kolker (Mark), Steven Flory, Julie Stephens, Todd Stephens; great grandchildren Sabrina Kessler, Austin M. Eugene Ferryman, Gwyn Ferryman, Rachel Mae and Flora Helen Kolker. Mr. Stephens worked in the restaurant business for over 30 years. He was an outgoing and friendly individual who could speak with anyone on any level. Gene was positive and saw the good in everyone and every situation. He demonstrated a great appreciation for his family and his Faith and his church. He was happiest when serving the Lord as pastorates at First Baptist Church of Covington, the Fellowship Baptist Church of Vandalia, and his ministry while on the staff at the Troy Baptist Temple. He also taught Sunday school and was involved in jail ministries in Montgomery and Miami Counties. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, September 19, 2011, at Troy Baptist Temple, 691 Stauton Rd, Troy. Interment will follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington. The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Troy Baptist Temple Youth departments.
