Dorothy Overman Coppock, widow of Robert (deceased August 25, 1997), passed away on August 2, 2011 at Dorothy Love Retirement Community, Sidney OH. Dorothy was born in Greensfork, IN, graduated from Westtown School, PA, and attended Earlham College, IN. She moved to Pleasant Hill, OH, to work for the Jesse Beery School of Horsemanship. Through their mutual interest in music, Dorothy and Bob met as members of the Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ choir. Dorothy also worked for the Newton Township Board of Education, the Miami County Auditing Department, BF Goodrich Credit Union and the Dayton District United Methodist Church. Devoted to her family, including sons Barry (Dottie) and Tim (Becky), Dorothy also volunteered extensively.Volunteer work gave Dorothy much pleasure. She served as president of the Newton School Board, on several Southwest Ohio Association UCC church committees, and during her twenty-two years? residence at Dorothy Love served on the State Board for Ohio Presbyterian Homes and served on various committees. She also loved to travel, hike, camp, study Native American history and culture, collect turtles, and observe nature. She is survived by her brother, Thomas C. Overman (sister, Jane Overman Phillippi, deceased). Dorothy took special delight in being with her seven grandchildren; she also had four great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be held 12:30 PM Saturday, August 6, at Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ, 10 W. Monument St, Pleasant Hill. Rev. Craig Showalter will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10-12 PM Saturday at Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, 1 S. Main St, Pleasant Hill.
