Donald E. Swartz, 87, of Pleasant Hill, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016, at Springmeade Health Center, Tipp City.  He was born October 23, 1928, in Miami County, to the late Fred and Bertha Mae (Schleinitz) Swartz.  He married Helen M. (Bodey) Swartz on February 3, 1951; she preceded him in death on February 28, 2014 after 63 years of marriage. Donald will be missed and remembered by his children, Susan Swartz of Logansport, Ind., David Swartz of Pleasant Hill, Lisa Fike of Greensburg, Pa., and Paula (Jim) Landis of Pleasant Hill; brother Marvin (Connie) Swartz of Muncie, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Michelle (Daniel) Moore, Nick Swartz, Heather Landis (Kyle Vandeman), Carol Fike, Tori Weese (Shawn Black), Jakob Landis (Kara Ross), Bethany Fike, and Holly Landis; seven great-grandchildren, Gavin, Donovan, Keleigh, Kerigan, Aubriea, Gabrielle, and Sawyer; sisters-in-law, Shirley Bodey and Judy Swartz; and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.  He was welcomed into heaven by a brother, Norman Swartz; and a son-in-law, J. Melvin Fike. Donald was a member of Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren, where he served as the custodian for numerous years.  He retired from B.F. Goodrich in Troy after 38 years of service, and enjoyed bowling, woodworking, and was a Cub Scout master.  Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, March 25, at the Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren, 300 E. Monument St., Pleasant Hill, with Pastor Nick Beam officiating.  Friends may call from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the church.  Burial will follow in Miami Memorial Park, Covington.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren or Hospice of Miami County.
