Donald Eugene Robbins
Age 90, of Concord Township joined His Lord and Savior on December 10, 2021at the age of 90. Don was born on October 1, 1931 in Concord Township at the same farm home where his father and grandfather were born. His parents are the late Clyde and Dorothy E. (McMaken) Robbins. Survivors include close cousins John Davis (Pleasant Hill), Jo Ann Hartstein Huette (Arizona), Joan Herron (Piqua), Phil Geiger (Evans, GA), Felicia Robbins Stalder (Welaka, FL) and many friends including his faithful friend, Roland Sink. Growing up he had a special pet, a 16 pound cat named Robert the Cat or Bobcat. Don graduated from Newton Local School in 1949. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Army as a field telephone wireman. He worked on the family farm and sawmill in Concord Township. He also worked at the Miami County Power Plant from 1960-1973. Most of all he enjoyed his time farming. He could recite the serial number, type of motor and horsepower of every tractor on his farm. Don was quite a story teller with stories of growing up and those he heard from his father. As a young lad, he went to the grain elevator with his dad and listened to the farmers talk about their day. He remembered their stories, as well. Don was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ where he attended Bible study and services. He served on the Deacon commitment, operated the sound system, was a bell ringer, and served as trustee. He recorded the services and delivered them to shut-ins. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 15, at Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, 1 S. Main Street, Pleasant Hill. Pastor Jan Loomis will officiate with interment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00-11:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home.
