SNIPES, Darrell H. Age 71, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2011, after a lengthy illness. He was born March 23, 1940, in Bishopsville, South Carolina, to his parents O.L. & Dorothy (Rhodes) Snipes. He resided in the West Milton and Laura area for many years. He worked as a radio disc jockey in Bishopville and on Armed Service Radio while serving in the Air Force in Guam. He and his wife opened Hobby Hut Ceramic Studio in West Milton and later founded Dona's Molds in Laura. In recent years he worked at Newton Schools in Pleasant Hill driving a school bus, which he really enjoyed. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Dona; sons Jeff and Jay; daughter Jill; grandchildren Mandy, Drew, Matt, Jessica, Marina, Heidi, Tara, and Ryan; great granddaughter Karlee. He never met a stranger and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. If love could have saved him, he would have lived forever. Services will be held 7:00 PM Wednesday, May 4, at the Newton Schools gymnasium with Pastor Mike Short officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-7 PM Wednesday at the school. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
