Dale Edward Spitler

Age 96, of Pleasant Hill, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Hospice of Miami County. He was born April 20, 1928, in Dayton, Ohio, to his parents Hiram & Mary (Brumbaugh) Spitler. On November 26, 1949, he married Esther Hess in Pleasant Hill, Ohio, and together they shared a life for nearly 75 years. Dale worked as a Miami County farmer for over 42 years and was an avid harness horse driver and owner for over 40 years He was a longtime member of the Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Esther; son Van Spitler; sister Carol Brown; son-in-law Larry Powell. He will be missed and remembered by his children and their spouses Cindy & Chris Hancock of Summerville, South Carolina, Bonnie Powell of Pleasant Hill, Marty Spitler & Wilma Francis of Arcanum; grandsons Nathan (Sonya) Jones, Gavin (Jessica) Spitler, Jorde (Jaclyn) Spitler, Jason Powell, Van (Jordan) Spitler, Holtt Spitler; granddaughters Heather Jones, Jennifer (Bill Hoyer) Jones, Julie (Mike) Velkoff,  Holly (Dustin) Alexander; 13 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law Lowell & Wilma Spitler, Wayne & Susan Spitler; sister and brothers-in-law Martha & Ed Kuhns, Bill Brown. Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Monday, September 9, at the Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren, 300 E. Monument Street, Pleasant Hill. Lynda Adams will officiate with interment following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 PM Sunday at Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, 1 S.
