Cordelia Jane “Bunky” Cooper

Age 94, of Pleasant Hill, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Koester Pavilon. She was born August 5, 1929, in Dayton, Ohio, to her parents Wayne C. & Mabel D. (Wells) Duncan. Bunky graduated from Newton High School in 1947. She worked as a waitress at The Gables and Midges Restaurant and retired from Newton Schools. She was a member of the Covington VFW Post 4235 and the Covington Fraternal Order of the Eagles 3998. Bunky loved to be in the outdoors where she enjoyed camping, fishing and boating at Grand Lake St. Mary. She was an avid Reds, Browns and Ohio State fan. She enjoyed cooking and canning and loved to spend time visiting with her neighbors. On Fridays she and her friends could be found at the Covington Eagles where they would eat dinner and pull tabs.  But most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years George R. Cooper; her parents; her brother and sister-in-law Wells & Joann Duncan; son-in-law John Powell.  She will be missed and remembered by her loving children Patrick “Pat” & Rhonda Cooper of Covington and Cinderella Powell of Covington;  grandchildren Shane Long & Rachel Petke-Long of Portland, Oregon, Kelly & Jenny Long of Covington, Josh & Libby Long of Covington, Joe Cooper of Fletcher, Casey Cooper of Troy, Matt and Molly Cooper of Troy; great grandchildren Lexie Long, Makenzie Long, Clara Petke-Long, Ezra Petke-Long, Asher Long, Elyza Long, Ivy Long; Duncan Cooper, Caleb Cooper, Chase Cooper; great great granddaughter Marlee Mae Hart. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 11, at Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, 1 S. Main Street, Pleasant Hill, with interment following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. If so desired, memorial contributions may be to the Pleasant Hill History Center.
