Andrew B Jackson

December 3, 1929 ~ November 12, 2016 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Andrew B. Jackson, Jr, known to his family and many dear friends as “Andy” and “Junior”, age 86, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 12 at his home near Pleasant Hill. Andrew was born on December 3, 1929, to the late Andrew B. and Minnie Mae (Adams) Jackson.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Helen Jackson, Leona Fritz, Charles, Clyde, Otis, and Warren Jackson, and Alma Stewart.  Andrew was a graduate of Newton High School, Class of 1949.  Throughout his high school days, his basketball teams brought joy to the Pleasant Hill community.  After graduation, he attended Manchester College for 1 year before enlisting in the United States Navy.  Andrew proudly served in the Navy from 1951-1954 as an Aviation Structural Mechanic during the Korean conflict.  Upon discharge, he returned to Miami County to pursue his love of farming.He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Donna Jean Locke, whom he married on July 17, 1951.He was a lifelong, active member of the Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren having served in many capacities including deacon for 35 years. He was inducted into the Newton Hall of Fame in May of 2015.  It was with great humility and appreciation that he received this award.His passions were his faith, family, and farming.In addition to his wife, he is survived by 4 children, 10 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.  Daughters, Teresa (Larry) Hiegel of Troy, Kimberly (Doug) Powell of Tipp City, and Tamara (Tony) Blundell of Pleasant Hill; Son, Rex (Laura) Jackson of Troy; Grandchildren, Jill (Joe) McKeeman, Nicole (Aaron) Simmons, Stefanie (Matt) Wainscott, Brice Powell, Brent (Rachel) Powell, Magan Grice, Kyle (Abbey) Blundell, Chelsea Blundell, Kelsey Jackson, Cody (Kierstin) Jackson; Great grandchildren, Cole Grice, Chloe, Olivia, Evelyn, and Hadassah Simmons, Micah, Hannah, and Gabrielle Wainscott.  He is survived by 4 siblings, Ruth Roeth, Aubrey, John, and Van Jackson.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Miami County and Jenny Babylon for the wonderful care given during Andrew’s illness.  Thank you to Pastor Nick Beam for the special friendship he shared with Andrew that went beyond Pastoral care.

A private family service will be held at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren or Hospice of Miami County.  Arrangements are in care of Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home.  Online tributes may be left for Andrew’s family at jackson-sarver.com
