Evelyn Mae Shellabarger
Age 79, of Bradford, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at the Village Green Healthcare Center. She was born May 15, 1944, in Troy, Ohio, to her parents Ervin & Estella (Haas) Lavy. Evelyn graduated from Newton High School class of 1962 and was a member of the Shiloh Old German Baptist New Conference Church. On January 10, 1965, she married Stanley Shellabarger and together they shared a life for over 59 years. Evelyn worked as a homemaker in Bradford where she raised her two sons Michael and Zane. For the past 30 years, she and Stanley attended many farmer’s markets. You would find them on Saturday mornings selling their produce and baked goods. Evelyn was famous for her chocolate chip cookies and various pies. Evelyn is survived by her husband Stanley Shellabarger; sons and daughters-in-law Michael & Barb Shellabarger, Zane & Jennifer Shellabarger; granddaughters Emily, Erika, Stella, Lillie, and Eva; brothers and sisters in-law Bob & Sharon Lavy, Everett & Reta Lavy; sisters and brother-in-law Edie Murphy, Eileen & John Henderson. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Paul David Lavy; brother-in-law Ferdie Murphy. The family would like to thank the staff at Village Green and Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County for the care they showed to Evelyn during her stay.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, April 25, at the Shiloh New Conference Meeting House, 8340 Delisle-Fourman Road, Arcanum, with interment following at Newcomer Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00-700 PM Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County.
