Lowell Shumaker
Age 95, of Pleasant Hill, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at Brookdale of Troy. He was born November 3, 1921, in Laura, Ohio, to his parents Guy O. & Algia (Coate) Shumaker. Lowell graduated from Newton High School. On October 24, 1942, he married Glenna Smith and together they shared a life until her passing in 1995. He served in the US Army Air Corp in North Africa during WWII and worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base for 10 years. Lowell retired from the Dayton International Airport as Tower Chief in 1976. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Glenna (Smith) Shumaker; son James Shumaker; daughter Peggy Bowers; siblings Howard Shumaker, James Shumaker, Lois Force, Phyllis Shumaker, Doris Shumaker, Gladys Myers. He will be missed and remembered by his daughter Sandra Sutherin of Centerville; grandchildren David Sutherin of Dayton, Kelly Sutherin of Dayton, Tina Williams of Louisville, Kentucky, Stacey Meek of Brazil, Indiana; great grandchildren Becky & Thomas Heil of Louisville, Kentucky, Ricky Williams of Louisville, Kentucky, Donna Meek of Brazil, Indiana, Katie Meek of Brazil, Indiana; great great grandchildren Savanna Heil of Louisville, brother Floyd Shumaker of Springfield. The family would like to thank the Brookdale Troy staff for the loving care they showed to Lowell during his stay with them. Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Monday, November 6, at Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, 1 S. Main Street, Pleasant Hill, with interment following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
