Damon “Doc” Uhrig
Age 90, of Troy, passed away peacefully Friday, December 2, 2016, at his home.
He was born January 18, 1926, in Brookville, Ohio, to his parents Alfred Russell & Mary Hettie (Surber) Uhrig. Doc graduated from Philipsburg High School class of 1943 and earned his Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Sinclair Community College. On April 19, 1946, he married Norma Lucille Spitler and together they shared a life for over 70 years. He served in the US Army during WWII and was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 43, Troy. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren and the West Milton Masonic Lodge 577 F.& A.M. He will be missed and remembered by his loving wife Norma L. Uhrig; children Stephen A. Uhrig and Deborah L. Uhrig; sister-in-law Mary Uhrig; niece Rebecca Shearer. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Howard Uhrig. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at the Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren, 300 E. Monument Street, Pleasant Hill with Pastor Nick Beam officiating. Interment at Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM Wednesday at the church. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
