I was on my way home and saw the ambulance and sheriff cars. I thought about when I was on the ambulance crew that hauled him to the hospital once. He hadn't wanted to go, but he needed to go. I remember putting my face close to his and asking him if he knew who I was as I wasn't sure what effect the stroke was having. He knew me. I calmly told him that he needed to go. He calmed down and we hauled him.
So as I passed the house and saw the squad again, I almost stopped to see if I could help. But since I'm not on the department any longer I thought I shouldn't. And then I saw the empty cot behind the squad. I had a feeling. I went to the office and prayed.
Today I saw the notice in the paper. I feel the loss. I miss our conversations already.
May the comfort of God be with the family, especially Norma.
Well done Doc. Well done.

We are saddened to hear of the loss of such a great person. We were neighbors for more than 14 years. Doc was always helpful and he always knew the proper way to say it. We admired his intelligence. I know he will be greatly missed
